Dual Diagnosis

Upon initial intake we try to efficiently determine the nature and severity of your illness, the associated risks or complications, and your treatment history. Taking these facts into consideration we then work to determine the appropriate level of care.

Treatment for a psychiatric problem, especially in combination with substance abuse or intellectual and developmental disabilities, depends heavily upon the individual diagnosis. For most disorders, individual and group therapy as well as medications are recommended. Expressive therapies and education about the particular psychiatric condition are often useful aides in your recovery. A support group of other people who are recovering from the same or similar condition may also prove highly beneficial. Adjunct treatment, such as occupational or expressive therapy, can help you to better understand and communicate your feelings, emotions, and history, as well as help you to develop better problem-solving, coping, or decision-making skills.
